Description

This Sticky Teriyaki Beef & Broccoli Stir-Fry is a quick and easy weeknight meal. Tender beef and crisp-tender broccoli florets are coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce. It’s a restaurant-quality meal you can make at home in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Broccoli: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, or until they begin to turn bright green and are slightly tender-crisp. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet. Increase the heat to high. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, or until browned.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, water, soy sauce, and brown sugar.
  5. Combine and Simmer: Pour the sauce over the beef in the skillet. Add the cooked broccoli and stir to coat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and the beef is cooked through.
  6. Serve: Serve the stir-fry immediately over cooked rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can substitute chicken or shrimp for the beef. Adjust cooking times accordingly.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like sliced bell peppers, snap peas, or carrots.
