Description

This Christmas Tree Pull-Apart Pizza is a festive and fun appetizer that’s perfect for holiday gatherings. It’s easy to make, delicious, and a great way to get everyone involved in a joyful family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup finely diced pepperoni (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced green bell pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1 star-shaped cookie cutter (optional, for the top)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll one can of crescent rolls and separate into 8 triangles. On the prepared baking sheet, arrange 7 triangles in the shape of a Christmas tree, with the wider ends touching to form the base and the narrower ends pointing upwards. Slightly overlap the edges.
  3. From the second can of crescent rolls, separate 7 triangles and arrange them to complete the tree shape, filling in any gaps and creating a fuller tree. Use the remaining triangle to form a small trunk at the bottom of the tree.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the crescent roll dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce. If using, scatter the pepperoni, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper over the cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the pizza tree.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  9. If desired, use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star from a leftover crescent roll or a slice of cheese and place it on top of the tree after baking, or before for a baked star.
  10. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving. Serve warm and let everyone pull apart a piece!

Notes

  • Feel free to customize your toppings! Cooked sausage, mushrooms, black olives, or even a sprinkle of red pepper flakes would be delicious.
  • For a fun presentation, you can use a small cookie cutter to cut out mini stars from slices of cheese to scatter over the tree.
  • This pizza is best served warm, but leftovers can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave.
  • Make sure not to overload the tree with too many toppings, as it might make it difficult to cook evenly.
