Description

This Cheesy Pull-Apart Christmas Bread is the perfect festive appetizer or side dish! Flaky, buttery bread is filled with melty cheese and herbs, making it irresistible. It’s easy to make and looks impressive on the holiday table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (1-pound) loaf of frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper.
  3. Cut the thawed bread dough lengthwise into 1-inch thick slices, then cut each slice into 1-inch cubes.
  4. In a large bowl, toss the bread cubes with the butter mixture until evenly coated.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  6. Layer the bread cubes in the prepared loaf pan, alternating with layers of cheese. Start and end with bread cubes.
  7. Cover the loaf pan with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving platter.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier bread, add more red pepper flakes.
  • You can use different types of cheese, such as provolone or cheddar.
  • If the top is browning too quickly, tent with foil.
  • Serve immediately for best results.
