- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked noodles, sour cream, and half of the cheddar cheese.
- Pour the meat sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with the noodle mixture, then sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- Feel free to add other vegetables, such as bell peppers or mushrooms, to the meat sauce.
