Description

This Cheesy Ground Beef Dinner Bake is a comforting, easy-to-make casserole perfect for a weeknight meal. It features seasoned ground beef, a creamy sauce, and a generous layer of cheese, all baked to bubbly perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain.
  6. In a large bowl, combine cooked noodles, sour cream, and half of the cheddar cheese.
  7. Pour the meat sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  8. Top with the noodle mixture, then sprinkle with remaining cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables, such as bell peppers or mushrooms, to the meat sauce.
