Description

Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken is a quick and easy weeknight meal. Tender chicken pieces are coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce and cooked to perfection in the air fryer. Ready in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, ground ginger, and garlic powder.
  2. In a separate bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Add the chicken to the teriyaki sauce mixture and stir to combine. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  5. Place the marinated chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd it. You may need to cook it in batches.
  6. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
  8. Serve immediately with rice and your favorite vegetables.

Notes

  • For best results, use high-quality teriyaki sauce. You can also make your own homemade teriyaki sauce.
  • If you don’t have chicken thighs, you can use chicken breasts, but be sure to cut them into smaller pieces so they cook evenly.
  • Adjust cooking time as needed depending on your air fryer.
  • Serve over rice, noodles, or with a side of steamed vegetables.
