Description
Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken is a quick and easy weeknight meal. Tender chicken pieces are coated in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce and cooked to perfection in the air fryer. Ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, ground ginger, and garlic powder.
- In a separate bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Add the chicken to the teriyaki sauce mixture and stir to combine. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the marinated chicken in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd it. You may need to cook it in batches.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions, if desired.
- Serve immediately with rice and your favorite vegetables.
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality teriyaki sauce. You can also make your own homemade teriyaki sauce.
- If you don’t have chicken thighs, you can use chicken breasts, but be sure to cut them into smaller pieces so they cook evenly.
- Adjust cooking time as needed depending on your air fryer.
- Serve over rice, noodles, or with a side of steamed vegetables.
