Description

This White Chocolate Peppermint Bark is a festive and easy no-bake treat that’s perfect for the holidays! Made with just a few simple ingredients, it’s a satisfying classic that your whole family will love. The combination of creamy white chocolate and refreshing peppermint creates a delightful flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz good quality white chocolate (wafers or chopped bars)
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes (about 1012 regular sized candy canes)
  • Optional: a few drops of red food coloring (for marbled effect)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet (approximately 9×13 inches) with parchment paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate, as it can seize.
  3. Stir in the peppermint extract into the melted white chocolate.
  4. If desired, separate about 1/4 of the melted white chocolate into a small bowl and add a few drops of red food coloring. Stir until combined.
  5. Pour the plain white chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly with an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. If using, drizzle or dollop the red white chocolate over the plain white chocolate. Use a skewer or a butter knife to gently swirl the red into the white for a marbled effect.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes evenly over the melted chocolate. Gently press them down slightly so they adhere.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30-60 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set and firm.
  9. Once firm, break the bark into irregular pieces.
  10. Store the white chocolate peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer.

Notes

  • For best results, use a good quality white chocolate. Chocolate chips often contain stabilizers that can make them difficult to melt smoothly.
  • Ensure your candy canes are finely crushed for better distribution and texture. You can place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin or use a food processor.
  • If the weather is warm, storing the bark in the refrigerator is recommended to prevent it from melting.
  • This bark makes a wonderful homemade gift for friends and family during the holiday season!
