This irresistible Sticky Sesame Chicken features crispy chicken pieces tossed in a sweet and savory sauce, topped with sesame seeds. A takeout favorite made easy at home!

- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- For the sauce:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, coat chicken pieces with cornstarch.
- Dip each coated piece in beaten eggs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Set aside.
- In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
- Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add cornstarch slurry and cook until sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat with sauce.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double-coat the chicken pieces in cornstarch then egg.
- Serve over steamed rice or noodles.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- The sauce can be made ahead and stored separately.
