Description

Indulge in a restaurant-quality meal at home with this decadent Steakhouse Garlic Butter Pasta Dinner. Tender steak, tossed with perfectly cooked pasta and a rich garlic butter sauce, creates an unforgettable culinary experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ribeye steak, about 1-inch thick
  • 1 pound pasta (such as fettuccine or linguine)
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 68 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine (optional)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Season the steak generously with salt and pepper. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat until shimmering. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer depending on desired doneness.
  2. Rest the Steak: Transfer the steak to a cutting board and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a more tender steak.
  3. Cook the Pasta: While the steak rests, cook the pasta according to package directions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  4. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce: In the same skillet used for the steak (wipe out excess oil if needed), melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Deglaze and Add Cream (optional): If using, pour in the red wine and let it simmer for a minute, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Stir in the heavy cream, if using.
  6. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Toss to coat. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
  7. Add Parmesan and Steak: Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Slice the rested steak against the grain and add it to the pasta. Toss gently to combine.
  8. Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter sauce.
  • Feel free to use your favorite cut of steak.
  • Don’t overcook the pasta; it should be al dente.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic to your taste.
