Description

This Peppermint White Chocolate Popcorn Mix is an irresistible, festive treat that’s perfect for holiday gatherings or a cozy night in. It combines the satisfying crunch of popcorn with the sweet creaminess of white chocolate and a refreshing hint of peppermint.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate bar
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies
  • Optional: Holiday sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn according to package directions or your preferred method. Spread the popped popcorn out onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper, removing any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted. Be careful not to overheat.
  3. Stir the peppermint extract into the melted white chocolate until well combined.
  4. Drizzle the melted peppermint white chocolate over the popcorn, tossing gently with a spatula or your hands to coat as evenly as possible.
  5. Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the chocolate-coated popcorn. If desired, add holiday sprinkles.
  6. Allow the popcorn to cool and the chocolate to set completely, about 30-60 minutes, or place in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to speed up the process.
  7. Once set, break the popcorn into pieces and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.

Notes

  • For best results, use freshly popped popcorn. If using pre-popped, ensure it is unbuttered and unsalted.
  • When melting white chocolate, low and slow is key to prevent it from seizing.
  • You can adjust the amount of peppermint extract to your taste. Start with less and add more if desired.
  • This popcorn mix makes a wonderful homemade gift during the holidays!
