- 6–8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and pepper.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, olive oil, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Sear the Chicken: Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
- Cook the Chicken: Flip the chicken thighs and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the chicken with the sauce occasionally during cooking.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot over rice, noodles, or with your favorite sides.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, you can remove the chicken from the skillet after it’s cooked and simmer the sauce for a few minutes until it thickens slightly before returning the chicken to the pan.
- Feel free to add other vegetables to the pan while the chicken is cooking, such as broccoli florets or sliced bell peppers.
- If you don’t have rice vinegar, you can substitute apple cider vinegar.
