Description

These Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs are a delicious and easy weeknight meal! Tender, juicy chicken thighs are coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, perfect served over rice or with a side of vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Season the chicken thighs generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, olive oil, sesame oil, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Sear the Chicken: Heat a large skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs, skin-side down, and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and crispy.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Flip the chicken thighs and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the chicken with the sauce occasionally during cooking.
  5. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve hot over rice, noodles, or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, you can remove the chicken from the skillet after it’s cooked and simmer the sauce for a few minutes until it thickens slightly before returning the chicken to the pan.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables to the pan while the chicken is cooking, such as broccoli florets or sliced bell peppers.
  • If you don’t have rice vinegar, you can substitute apple cider vinegar.
