Description

These Gooey Fried Cheese Bites are the ultimate party appetizer! Crispy on the outside, with a molten, cheesy center, they’re irresistible. Perfect for game day, movie night, or any gathering where you want to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz block of mozzarella cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned preferred)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a separate shallow dish, whisk together the milk and egg.
  3. Place the breadcrumbs in a third shallow dish.
  4. Dredge each cheese cube in the flour mixture, then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally, coat it with breadcrumbs, ensuring it’s fully covered.
  5. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully place the cheese bites in the hot oil, a few at a time, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.
  7. Fry for 1-2 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melty.
  8. Remove the cheese bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra cheesy flavor, use a blend of mozzarella and provolone.
  • If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can crush crackers or use panko breadcrumbs for a crispier coating.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough, otherwise, the cheese bites will absorb too much oil.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the flour mixture.
