Description

This Garlic Butter Shrimp Orzo Skillet is a quick and easy one-pan meal, perfect for busy weeknights! Tender shrimp and orzo pasta are tossed in a flavorful garlic butter sauce, creating a delicious and satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and cooked through. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  4. Add the orzo pasta to the skillet and toast for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth and white wine (if using). Bring to a simmer.
  6. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Return the shrimp to the skillet. Stir to combine.
  8. Stir in the parsley. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Feel free to use pre-cooked shrimp to save time. Add them during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • If you don’t have white wine, you can substitute with extra chicken broth.
  • Adjust the cooking time based on your stove and the type of orzo.
