Description

These Garlic Butter Bread Rolls are soft, fluffy, and bursting with garlicky flavor. They’re the perfect side dish for any meal, from weeknight dinners to holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, plus more for brushing
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 24 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Add salt, melted butter, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. While the dough rises, make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley (if using).
  7. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-16 equal pieces.
  8. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.
  10. Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  12. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  13. Remove from oven and brush with more melted garlic butter. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, use garlic-infused butter.
  • You can add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese to the tops of the rolls before baking.
  • Leftover rolls can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving.
