Description

These Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken Thighs are a quick and easy weeknight meal. The chicken is tender, juicy, and coated in a flavorful glaze that’s both sweet and savory.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper (to taste).
  4. Sear chicken thighs skin-side down in the hot skillet for 5-7 minutes, until skin is golden brown and crispy. Flip and cook for 2 minutes. Remove chicken from skillet.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  6. Pour the brown sugar mixture into the skillet. Bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  7. Return the chicken thighs to the skillet, skin-side up.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Baste the chicken with the sauce from the skillet a few times during baking.
  10. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • Serve with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables.
  • Broil for the last couple of minutes for extra crispy skin (watch closely to prevent burning).
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar to your liking.
