Description

This Creamy Tomato Garlic Pasta is a simple yet satisfying dish, perfect for a weeknight meal. The combination of sweet tomatoes, fragrant garlic, and rich cream creates a delicious sauce that coats the pasta beautifully.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pasta (such as penne, rigatoni, or your favorite shape)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water until it reaches your desired consistency.
  6. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil leaves and extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • You can substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but the sauce will be less rich.
  • Feel free to add cooked Italian sausage or grilled chicken for added protein.
