Description

This creamy, cheesy BBQ Chicken Dip is loaded with shredded chicken, tangy BBQ sauce, sharp cheddar cheese, and a hint of sweet red onion. It’s the perfect appetizer for game day, parties, or a simple weeknight snack that everyone will love.

  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
  • Tortilla chips, crackers, or baguette slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, BBQ sauce, softened cream cheese, sour cream, and chopped red onion. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  3. Stir in 3/4 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Spoon the mixture into a small oven-safe baking dish or an attractive serving dish.
  5. Top the dip evenly with the remaining 1/4 cup of cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is heated through and the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the mixture.
  • If you don’t have fresh red onion, you can use 1 tablespoon of dried minced onion, rehydrated in a little water.
  • Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.
