Description

This classic 7-Layer Taco Dip is the ultimate crowd-pleasing party appetizer! It requires absolutely no baking and comes together in under 10 minutes, layering creamy refried beans, zesty sour cream, fresh salsa, guacamole, cheese, olives, and green onions for maximum flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans (not fat-free)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix (or to taste)
  • 1 cup prepared guacamole (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup salsa (medium heat recommended)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives, drained
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (scallions)
  • Optional: Shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes for topping

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and taco seasoning until fully mixed. Set aside.
  2. Select a serving platter or a 9×13 inch rectangular dish for assembly.
  3. Spread the refried beans evenly over the bottom of the platter, creating the first layer.
  4. Carefully spread the seasoned sour cream mixture over the beans, creating the second layer.
  5. Gently spoon the guacamole over the sour cream layer, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Pour the salsa over the guacamole layer. If using, you can drain excess liquid from the salsa first.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the salsa layer.
  8. Top the cheese with the sliced black olives and chopped green onions.
  9. For added freshness, you may add a layer of shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes before the olives and onions, if desired.
  10. Cover the dip and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving. Serve cold with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, warm the refried beans slightly before spreading them as the base layer.
  • If making ahead, wait to add the guacamole and salsa until closer to serving time to prevent the dip from becoming watery.
  • Feel free to substitute the shredded cheese with pepper jack or cheddar.
  • Use your favorite mild or spicy taco seasoning to adjust the heat level.
